Founder, Jaffe Eye Institute

Dr. Norman Jaffe was a leader in ophthalmology care. As a pioneer in his field, he was one of the first three surgeons in the United States to implement the use of lens implants for cataract surgery in 1967.

Dr. Jaffe dedicated his career to providing patients with advanced eye care and has supported the training and education of his colleagues on groundbreaking techniques. Dr. Jaffe authored one of the most well-known books in the world on cataract surgery. Originally published in 1972, the book is now in its sixth edition and was even translated into Japanese.

Dr. Jaffe has many chapters, lectures, and honors to his name. He was a founding member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. It goes without saying that Dr. Jaffe dedicated his life to finding better treatments for cataract patients.

A 1978 graduate of the University of Miami, Dr. Gary Jaffe joined Jaffe Eye Institute in 1982. Dr. Jaffe completed his residency at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and has been in practice with his dad since that time.

Dr. Jaffe is board certified in ophthalmology and has authored a spectrum of papers, presentations, and educational initiatives from groups like the Miami Ophthalmological Association, American Intraocular Implant Society, and American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Board-Certified Ophthalmologist

Dr. Emery Jaffe graduated from the University of Miami in 1987 and completed an extensive training program in ophthalmology. He joined Jaffe Eye Institute after completing his residency at New York Medical College in 1991.

Dr. Jaffe is a member of several professional organizations including the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Board-Certified Ophthalmologist

Dr. Adriana Saker joined Jaffe Eye Institute in 1996. A native of Columbia, she is a graduate of Universidad Militar Nueva Grenada medical school and completed her ophthalmology residency at Temple University in 1995. She has been board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology since 2000 and has authored a variety of research on eye health.

Dr. Ronald Glatzer earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Glatzer performed his residency training in ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

A recognized authority in his field, Dr. Glatzer is an active member of a number of medical societies. In addition, he has instructed many courses in ultrasonography and retinal health.

Dr. Glatzer has served the South Florida community for over 30 years and has received numerous awards, including a place in “Best Doctors in America” for several years. He is also recognized as one of the “100 Best Physicians” by South Florida magazine.

Board-Certified Neurologic Ophthalmologist

Dr. Matthew Kay completed his neuro-ophthalmology training at the renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He moved to South Florida in 1992 to assume a full-time faculty position at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

In 1995, Dr. Kay established the first full-time private practice in the local tri-county area devoted entirely to neuro-ophthalmology. He has published numerous articles in scientific journals and continues to contribute chapters to ophthalmic textbooks.

Dr. Kay’s practice is limited to neuro-ophthalmologic disorders including optic nerve diseases, double vision, and other neurologic conditions affecting the visual pathways.
